After a several year delay, yet another Petition to Deny the renewal of the license of Clear Channel's News-Talk WISN-AM/Milwaukee has been dismissed and the license was renewed.

This most recent time dealt with Marvin J. Tick's 2004 petition against the renewal, based on his complaint that Mark Belling had used the term "wetbacks." FCC investigators did not dispute the audio clip or transcript of the racial slur. However, Tick's petition was dismissed in 2007 and the renewal granted. The saga continued shortly thereafter, when FCC investigators rescinded the license renewal after an appeals request from Tick. The license renewal had been held up since then. Groups opposed to WISN-AM regularly claimed the station was operating illegally without a valid license during this period.

At this time, it is unclear if any other Petitions to Deny have been filed against WISN-AM with the FCC.
