NexGen has it's moments. I'm not as familiar with talk operations as I am with music operations but I believe NexGen could have easily knocked off the show's elements.

Unlike music stations, they have the ability to crack a mic and talk instead of letting the station run with dead air and have to go to a backup tape or CD with an old playlist of music while someone fixes the computer.

In regards to WISN, They should probably (if they don't already) have a backup CD in the studio with some instrumental bumper music or whatever it is they use.

Phones shouldn't be a problem. If you can't screen the calls, it can be done by saying "Hi you're on WISN who's this?" instead of saying "Hi () you're on WISN."

Not every station has call screening systems. You might have to answer the phone manually and be ready to hit the dump button.

There should always be some sort of backup plan so something like this doesn't have to be a massive show nightmare. Again, talk has it easier for situations like this. They can crack a mic and talk about something without having to worry about losing music listeners to dead air or DJ talk.
