Some of the older locals may remember me, but radio now is nothing like it used to be and there is no compelling reason to get into it. I interned in HS, got my 1st class and used that to put myself through undergrad and grad school as on air talent and engineer. I got into radio due to a loud buzzing in my ears that had me having an audio source all night long. I always "helped" out in rural areas when my primary job sent me because social radio is what I always enjoyed. When having the misfortune of working for GE I did an early morning and late day shift to help out at a rural station. Nothing close anymore. My biggest regret was breaking into a sat station years ago when they were the only station in town and re-calibrating the equipment when it drifted at 2:am and nobody was present to fix things. I was arrested but the elderly owner waived charges when he woke up and offered me his chain of six stations after we talked. I could not make the numbers work and less than a year later he was bought out through deregulation. For millions more than he asked me to pay. Nice guy, he donated lots to rural local stations.
