So, thought I'd tune in for a bit while I do a little cleaning. I fired it up on ny old 1958 German-made console radio, that once belonged to my late grandparents. Sounds kick-ass in all its vacuum tube glory. Some observations...

1. Overall, I like it. It's not the AARP-style cookie cutter adult standards format like on the old WOKY, which sounded like a format targeting the elderly. This is actually a bit more fun. More eclectic mix, a bit more jazzy. I'm sure WOKY never played Joe Jackson. So, at least it's different.

2. This station was obviously inspired by its Shamrock-owned sister station in Reno, KZTI: http://www.1053martiniradio.com

3. I can see a niche for this. Let's face it, most of the music stations in town play some form of rock, pop, urban or country music. If you're too old for that, then it's either GOP propaganda or people screaming about the Brewers and Packers. So, it's the de facto mellow pop station in Milwaukee, but it's not of the wimpy Barry Manilow/Air Supply/Michael Bolton variety.

4. So far, this playlist has been pretty unpredictable. Sure, there's a few weird choices thrown in, but haven't really heard anything I've gotten sick of hearing on the local FM dial.

5. Put on their stream for a bit while in the kitchen, since my iPod dock only has FM. They have 32K mono streams that pretty much sound like AM radio. Would be cool if they had an AAC stereo stream, just for something different.

6. How cool is it to hear music on AM radio? You young folks just wouldn't understand.

So, all in all, I welcome this new addition to Milwaukee's AM dial. And thanks for doing something a bit more off-the-wall.
