The fairness doctrine makes absolutely no sense in this day and age. If you want to hear a wide range of viewpoints, you can certainly find it in zillions of place online. Hell I can read 10 different viewpoints on gun regulation just by reading my Facebook newsfeed on a given afternoon. To force the government to start regulating that again would be absolutely inane.

Reinstituting ownership claims would also make sense...if you want many radio stations to go dark. Radio was in very poor financial shape prior to deregulation. Mom and pops were hurting, and the future was bleak with main streets in the small communities they served getting killed by Wal Mart. Radio has only stayed alive thanks to it. Again, with zillions of sources of media at your fingertips online, reinstating ownership limits for fear of a media "monopoly" is stupid
