I liked what Al Gore was doing. I would prefer for Current to stay under his management and for it to keep doing what it's doing. It was finally developing a real cohesive brand and creating a cast of characters. Al-Jazeera plans to rename the network Al-Jazeera English or Al-Jazeera America, depending on what unfolds over the next 3 months. They have said anything related to Current will be gone, including simulcasting of Bill Press and Stephanie Miller radio shows, and the prime time talk shows. I don't know how they plan to do it; whether that be a gradual phase out of the current Current (HA!) or an abrupt switch-over. If it's anything like radio, it'll be unplanned and abrupt. I disagree with Time Warner Cable's decision to drop the network immediately upon notification of sale. Nothing has even changed yet. Word is, Time Warner Cable got lots of Fox News hate mail saying the provider was keeping ties with terrorists and TWC responded in kind. I just don't know what to say about that, which isn't a colorful word.
