Some bullet points from Rob Schultz's Wisconsin State Journal article linked below:
* The decision to cancel was made by WPR as the show "had become an economic liability."
* Only about 100 stations nationwide now carry the show. Declining station lineup + more competition = smaller listenership.
* Michael Feldman offered a "downsized," Wisconsin-only version of the show, an offer WPR immediately turned down.
* Feldman's not thinking about retiring.

Even though, as WPR mentioned in their official announcement about WYK's cancellation, they remain "committed to weekend entertainment programming," something tells me that the issue of "economics" decreases the odds that WYK's replacement will be WPR-produced. That'll be a shame if that were to be the case.
