Really sad to hear. I hate seeing local AM signals being turned in so another big city station can make a minor power increase. Harvard, IL (WMCW), Chicago Heights, IL (WCGO 1600) and Aurora, IL (WKKD-AM) all lost their local AMs so a big city station 1590 WONX (Now WCGO) could up the power. I guess that's the way it is these days.

Now maybe WHIT can ease some of those tight directional nulls they have to the south, which I'm guessing protect what was WZRK.

As far as I know, WGLB is still on it's old power. Shouldn't take much time now. They have a good engineering staff and they really don't have to build any new towers or anything so it should probably be good to go by the end of the summer if all goes well.

WGLB-AM has come a long way since 2001. It was a fringe daytimer from Port Washington trying to focus on Milwaukee's African-American community with a Gospel format. They got a great 24 Hour upgrade covering most of the city from the Elm Grove facility (actually it's that unpainted tower site along Northbound 45 south of Greenfield Ave)

Now they'll be able to cover most of the market during the day.

1460 WJTI West Allis (formerly WBJX, WRKR Racine) diplexes from that site.
