I just don't see this working. As others have pointed out, Mitch is no liberal. And listeners are pissed about Stephanie Miller's show being tape delayed.
Normally, I'd congratulate cheap channel for actually hiring some live/local talent, but this makes zero sense.
Mitch is a terrible fit for the Mic, and if he had a big enough audience to draw his own set of listeners, why would they have let him go from WIBA-AM in the first place? Or return him there instead of trying to fit the square peg in the round hole?
The cynic in me figures the end-game is to sabotage the Mic -- watch the ratings tank and then say, 'well, we invested money in local talent and the ratings still weren't there, so we're going to pull the plug and switch to alt rock. Sorry!'
Which, as someone who'd rather have a modern rock station than the Mic, I'm fine with. Do you hear me, Tim Scott? Just say it was your plan all along. It'll be our little secret.
