God, what is wrong with the industry? Anne State has been someone I followed since Chicago, which isn't even the beginning of her career.

She led a relaunch of CBS 2 News in Chicago, in the midst of a mess with executive Joe Ahern. It was simply put, a very crazy time and she got the shaft. She was a work horse and polished as heck on air.

I will say when she started at Fox 6 that I recalled her from CBS 2 and I didn't ever notice her strong you-betcha accent. It hasn't weaned at all since she began here so I can only assume she was putting it OFF in Chicago, probably at Ahern's request.

She belongs in a market bigger than Milwaukee and bigger than Portland. HOWEVER_ someone else said in another recent thread that the former exec at a TV station in Madison took the shaft and stuffed it back up the old station's ass by joining the cross-town the NEXT DAY, even though it was a smaller position. Many Chicago talents stay fired for years, heck - decades, jeremy Andrews can attest to that. Anne State wasn't a chicago talent and so instead of rest on her laurels and probably decent bank account, she took the gig north of the border.

I will miss her class at Fox 6. She brought major market talent to the newsroom and studios. Fox 6 has a decent bench, but they're all small to medium market talent. I think she could be replaced at night with Nicole Koglin, but they would never do that at Wake Up with it being such a successful franchise and killing the competition.
